Big Bear was raised on New Genesis alongside his close friends, with whom he later formed the Forever People. When a member of the Forever People, Beautiful Dreamer, was kidnapped as part of Darkseid's war on the New Gods, Big Bear went to Earth along with the remaining Forever People to rescue her. They were aided by Superman and a cosmic being summoned by their Mother Box, called Infinity Man. After rescuing Beautiful Dreamer, the group decided to remain on Earth to explore the planet and their own roots.
