Doctor Landro was secretly a criminal minion of the villainous Meglaro, a major criminal who had escaped from prison. Landro inserted a 'curative capsule' into the leg of Legionnaire Sun Boy when he was recovering from injury. Actually, the capsule contained a tiny, miniaturised spy, who was able to transmit information learned from Sun Boy's presence at Legion of Super-Heroes meetings to Meglaro's gang. As a result, several Legion missions ended in failure, and they wrongly believed, for a while, that one of their own members had turned traitor, particularly pointing the finger at their newest member, Matter-Eater Lad. However, Brainiac 5 discerned the truth and was able to clear his comrade, and the Legion duly captured Meglaro and Doctor Landro.
